One thing that you can be certain about in the coming year

is that you can’t be certain about what is ahead.

This is a great blessing, because….

you do not need to know.

To know what is ahead and the details of what will happen

would be too great a burden to carry and to great a responsibility to bear

What you do need to know about the future

is Not what is ahead of you,

But

Who is ahead of you

and is preparing the way for you

Your future is in His Sure, Strong, Caring hands.

I am with you, and I will protect you wherever you go. One day I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have finished giving you everything I have promised you. Genesis 28:15

As you pass through the door of 2011 and enter the door of 2012 here are six needs you are certain to have:

1. there will be the need for prayer

2. there will be the need for trust

3. there will be the need to obey

4. there will be the need to forgive

5. there will be the need to be faithful

6. there will be the need for Jesus

In the early days, when Christianity exercised a dominant influence over American thinking,

Men conceived the world to be a battleground.

Our fathers believed in sin and the devil and hell as constituting one force;

they believed in God and righteousness and heaven as the other.

They were opposed to each other in the nature of them

forever in deep, grave, irreconcilable hostility.

Man, so our fathers held,

had to choose sides; he could not be neutral.

For him it must be life or death, heaven or hell.

And if he chose to come out on God’s side,

he could expect open war with God’s enemies.

The fight would be real and deadly, and would last as long as life continued here below.

5. Doing LOTS more thinking and LOTS less talking

Is blogging for old people? Apparently so. Well, at least according to a new study from Pew Internet Project, that is. Today’s youngest generation of online users are no longer interested in consuming long-form content like blogs, says the research. Instead, communication among teens tends to involve brief bursts of information, like a Facebook status update or a text message.

Failure?

Jeremiah 29:5

“Build homes, and plan to stay. Plant gardens, and eat the food you produce.

When the Lord spoke to me about our home this verse was one of the many that He spoke. We moved forward in obedience to His word and we built the home, and have been trying to settle in, here in Kentucky. We have been in the house for one year and I cannot tell you how excited I was to start my first garden, afterall the Lord told me to plant gardens and eat the food that we produce. Did I mention to tell you that He teaches us lessons in all areas of life?

This is my first squash produced from my garden…not bad. The good news was it tasted delicious!

The BAD NEWS:

Yes I am sure that you are laughing right now, and no I was NOT trying to enter the miniature veggie competition. This is the how the reminder of my garden is turning out…mini squash, beans, carrots, and lettuce. Look at that carrot! How in the world am I suppose to feed my family this? It is not enough for a baby mouse, let alone a family of six.

After a few days of mourning the death of my rather quick lived garden, I am now gearing up for a second try. To my amazement Kentucky does NOT have WONDER soil… well at least not everywhere. I took some time to be educated by some native Kentuckians and learned that most of the best gardens are worked and worked with plenty of good manure.

After taking a specimen of our dirt, I was told “yep not good, not good at all, this is gonna time ya some time.” Not very encouraging, but hopeful!

To say the least I was confused on what God was trying to teach me, afterall he had told me to plant the garden and eat the food that I produced? Was He wanting us to starve? I hope that you are still laughing. Everyday that we live in Kentucky the Lord reminds us to be obedient to do what He asks, and to leave the producing to Him, to persevere and remain faithful, even if the harvest is ONE LONE DELICIOUS YELLOW SQUASH, and a hundred baby carrots.

(not sure if they even qualify for a carrot or not?)

The Lord reminded me of another passage in the book of Joel ch.1:17 Yet….

The seeds die in the parched ground, and the grain crops fail.

Joel 2:19 He will reply,

“Look! I am sending you grain and wine and olive oil, enough to satisfy your needs. You will no longer be an object of mockery among the surrounding nations.

Don’t be afraid my people! Be glad and rejoice now for God has done great things!

The pasture will soon be green and the trees filled with luscious fruit, the fig trees and grape vines will flourish..

California or bust

After a long 34 hours in the car… we finally arrived at Anza Borrego, California. We spent three sun filled days hiking, swimming and enjoying our grandparents! Thank you Grandma and Grandpa you guys are the BEST! We also enjoyed visiting Calvary Chapel Anza Borrego, and eating delicious MEXICAN FOOD!
